Get involved

Membership

As a member, you contribute to the promotion of African and Afro-diasporic literature in Germany and directly support writers and artists. All membership fees go to the projects and events presented by the association.

You get to be a part of a community of enthusiastic and curious readers and receive regular updates about African literature and its writers through a members’ newsletter.

You also get reduced or free entrance to all our events and exclusive access to African authors and artists through private events.

The yearly member contribution is 85 € or 25 € for students.

Our members

Alexandra Antwi-Boasiako

The moderator Alexandra Antwi-Boasiako is the Literature Ambassador of the association. She especially represented the African Book Festival 2022 by moderating the Opening Ceremony as well as hosted a series of virtual talks “Alexandra Speaks” introducing the audience to some of the festival’s participants.

Flora Veit-Wild

Flora Veit-Wild is a year-long supporter of InterKontinental’s work and often moderates readings and events. She is a German literary academic, Professor of African Literatures and Cultures at Humboldt University, Berlin. InterKontinental hosted the launch of her memoir “They Called You Dambudzo”, in which her relationship to the late Zimbabwean writer Dambudzo Marechera is at the centre.

Nicole Paganini

Nicole Paganini has been supporting the work of the association for years and partnered with us for a reading as part of the African Book Festival 2022. With her research project on urban food systems in Nairobi and Cape Town with a collective of women who run community kitchens, she invited three authors for the reading "What is cooking? Adding critical feminism to the pot".
